Formula Drift 2009 Round 3 at Wall Speedway, NJ
New Jersey’s Wall Speedway hosted the third round of Formula Drift this past Saturday, and it was an amazing event! Specators of all ages lined the balconies as they watched the Falken Tires Team sweep the top three positions! As for me, cooking in the sun with long sleeves because sunscreen doesn’t work for me, Jersey Streets is proud to bring you photo coverage of this event from the in field!

D1 Anaheim – Results & Pictures

1. Daigo Saito
2. Nobushige Kumakubo
3. Forest Wang
The first round of D1 is over. Some enjoyed the event while the hardcore drift fanswere left with a bad taste in their mouth. Reading the feedback thread at www.Drifting.com I was seeing alot of unsatisfied drivers and fans. I was not there so I cannot make my own opionion but when they come to philadelphia I hope they are a little more organized and hopefully we see some more pros from the US. Congrats to Forest Wang, if you remember my post leading up to the event I said he would be on the podium, Forest is a force to be wrecking with in D1 this year. Wrecked has some awesome pictures http://www.wreckedmagazine.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=97&page=5
Club Loose Weekend Bash 04.09
[April 26, 2009] Burning rubber and the smell of gasoline in the air, what else can you ask for from a weekend full of driftin action! From local drivers to Canadian drivers, the Club Loose Weekend Bash/So-Rad Event kicked off with quite a blast! On the first day, Matt Walden’s 350z caught fire on the last bank. Fire crews rushed to extiguish the fire to find Matt standing by his car, chilling and smoking a cigarette. Then on the second day, our good friend Chipper was given the kiss of death as he spun out at the third uphill corner of the main track.
All in all, the Jersey Streets.tv crew would like to thank Club loose organizers for putting together such a spectacular event for all to enjoy. Whether driving or spectating, there was plenty of action for all!

Clubloose Weekend Killer – C Group
video management, video solution, video streaming Mid-day run
[April 25, 2009] For the first time in Clubloose (CL) history, a few C group drivers were afforded the chance to experience the sideways mayhem on the roadcourse at Raceway Park. Having participated in a few CL parking lot events in 2008, the few precious minutes given to me during these over-crowded events offered little to no consistent repetition required to hone one’s skills. However, this time round, with close to 5 hours worth of nearly continuous seat time, sliding on the back road course was by far the best learning environment I’ve ever had since entering the world of drifting.
Car control, driving line, transitions, and throttle control are only a few of the skills I’ve noticed myself honing as the day progressed. Also, being able to discern the handling characteristics of my car wearing 16″ beater tires versus 17″ Cooper Zeon 2sx was another eye-opening experience. As the end of the day approached I have still yet to successfully connect the front with the back course. “Last run” as CL organizers annouced and so I was off with one last chance to tackle my foe.
As I accelerated and shifted into second, a sense of controlled calmness swept through me. Bang, sideways into the first downwards bend without a hitch. Throttling hard near the end to elongate the drift and pushing the car close to the brink of pavement and certain death, I gently throttle off for the transition. Hard on the E-brakes to shrug off some speed, I watched as the dreaded second corner creeps closer. As instinct kicked in, I let off on the E-brakes and was back on at full throttle pushing the car around the second corner. It was done. I had made it. And yet, it was bittersweet.
Sitting in front of my computer reviewing the video footage, I was disappointed to find out that my camera had ran out of batteries long before the end of the day. It had quit on me mid day, and hence my precious moment of victory was not caught on film. My first victory, shared between me and my car.
When all is said and done, -whether B or C group – should the opportunity present itself again to slide on the track *wink wink* I’ve been re-invigorated and look forward to sliding again soon. Many thanks to Matt Petty and Tim Johnsrud and their crew for managing and overseeing this event.

There isnt a whole lot of photos from the event, Gregs camera starting fogging after 2 hours of shooting so he decided to put it away, that and he was drenched. Enjoy the pics below the rest can be found here http://www.flickr.com/photos/gvalinoti/sets/72157616607648179/

Driver Profile: Brian Wilkerson
Zombie Car
Jersey Streets is still new and I’m trying to figure out this whole word press blogging thing. I just wanted to shout out a bad ass east coast driver by the name of Brian Wilkerson. He’s been seen at many drift events all along the east coast and qualified for his Formula Drift license last year at the 2008 US Drift Pro/Am finals held at Virginia International Raceway. Sporting awesome Desmond Regamasters rims and a custom paint job, his hatch 240sx glides across the asphalt sideways with ease. Enjoy some pictures from last year’s coverage of the Zombie car in our gallery below and good luck this season. Long live the zombie car.
